This is not polymer clay! This is actual silver metal! It is made out of Precious Metal Clay (which when fired, produces a piece that is 99.9% pure silver).Fine silver is actually more "pure silver" than Sterling Silver. Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver. This is 99.9% pure silver. Fine Silver shares the same hypoallergenic properties of sterling silver.
Tom is about 1/4 inch wide and 3/4 inch tall.
The charm is strung on an 18" sterling silver chain with sterling silver findings.

Wow! That's really neat! I've never heard of precious metal clay. Do you need a specail kiln to fire it? Or can you do it in an oven like regular polymer clay?

ReplyDeleteThanks! You fire the clay with a blow torch on a fiberglass brick - it needs to get heated to about 650 degrees for a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteThat's too cool! I'm not sure my husband with be happy with me if I started blow-torching things in the dinigroom though. :) I guess I'll have to wait to try it when I get an actually work space.
